Very clean, nicely decorated, no stress, great service, breakfast and dinner looked very good, breakfast and dinner we did not book for time reasons and for the fact, that we had not have a good feeling about price and the high status level. Hotel Au Cheval Blanc was only our a stop-over hotel for our family trip to Provence, we were very satisfied and we will prefer this hotel when we will next time go to France, We have been surprised very much, positively. However, being somehow tired after tousend of kilometer in a car, we did not prefer a dinner in a high society style. However, Mulhouse as town is not as attractive for us as Beaune and Colmar. And Alsace is not as romantic as Bretagne or Bordeaux, however certain strengths are there as well. Couple of years ago, we made a week long trip around the vineyards, Alsace was a positive surprise. This hotel remember us a lot from that, however a Bentley Old-timer, which we found to be parked at the parking spot (it has belonged to one of the guests) was somehow symptomatic.
Offer of "Plat du Jour" or local seasonal proposals for food. Something for 10-12 Euro for somebody, who is not that hungry, but likes to have something small, typical, regional, fresh, Everything was bourgeois, heavy, noble, but we have been missing natural touch with local culture and regional producers, I like foie grass, champagne and caviar, but this is for us not a food for everyday dinner. Having an offer from simple to complicated, not only heavy, luxury and complicated will for us bring a value.

It was a nice weather. After a warm day, it was nice to relax in the swimming pool. Later, we have been sitting outside/terrace and having our dinner. That was beautiful: calm and friendly atmosphere.
The hotel has two buildings - one is on the other side of the street. It was not so comfortable for us to go over the street with a small kid.

Excellent menu, and terrific value. The suite was a quirky arrangement, that makes good use of the space, but the spiral staircase may be a bit much for those with limited mobility, or vertigo. But, we loved it.
The bathroom - built right into the rafters meant that for tall guests the shower was a little cramped.
